NASIRU LAHI -L- FATIH Society (NASFAT), arguably Nigeria’s fastest growing Islamic society, has concluded plans to celebrate WORLD HIJAB DAY this year with different programmes including distribution of free HIJABS to young female Muslims.
The Women and Youth Wing of NASFAT in collaboration with other Islamic Oganisations plan to make the 2020 event a memorable one with some key programmes to commemorate the day.
As part of the annual programmes and activities of NASFAT, the celebration would kick off on Friday 31st of January, 2020 after Jumat prayer with lectures on the benefits of wearing HIJAB as well as its impacts on women and girls in the society.
This would take place in over 30 Muslim Secondary Schools across NASFAT Zones in the country.
This is to motivate and encourage the students to always wear HIJAB and feel comfortable on it.
There will be lecture programmes organized for the women and children across all the 22 zones of the Society in addition to a WORLD HIJAB DAY WALK in some selected zones and branches across the country on Saturday 1st February.
The three major locations for the rally in Lagos and Ogun states are Maryland, Ojoo and Ota.
On Sunday February 2nd 2020, Sister Fatima Momoh of Muslim Style Guide and Shayyidah Zeenat Kalejaye would deliver an impactful lecture on “Choosing the HIJAB with Confidence and Style” at the NASFAT Headquarters Alausa Secretariat mosque Ikeja Lagos.
Dignitaries including the NASFAT Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Suwebat Kupolati and other members of the Women Management Committee would grace the events.
Similar lectures would hold across branches and groups of the society.
Other programmes for the WORLD HIJAB DAY include interactions on all the social medial handles of the society, an opportunity for members to share image depicting what hijab means to the sisters and women with #tag ( #NASFAThijabmypride) and a platform for young Muslims to share, in one minute video, their hijab stories, what hijab means to them and how it has impacted their lives.
Winners would be rated based on content, relevance, originality and impact while prizes would be given to Top three selections including Laptop for the first place, Tablet for the runner up and Smartphone for the third place.
The NASFAT Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Suwebat Kupolati, called on government at all levels to ensure that Muslim females wearing hijab are given equal rights with their counterparts in the society, reiterating that women in Hijab have significance contributors to the nation and will continue to contribute more, if they are supported.
Hijab Day is celebrated world over every 1st February of the year to tell the world about Hijab and showcase its beauty.
